Concert discovery platform Bandsintown has expanded its bi-weekly livestream performances to five days a week. As the platform reports reaching 10 million viewers in a month, its live streaming channel Bandsintown Live will host a genre-inspired, themed channel showcasing emerging and established artists.
Mondays will feature a mix of country artists, while Tuesdays focuses on rising arts and Wednesdays will include eclectic sets from around the world. Thursdays will include artists from the underground club culture to mainstream EDM, DJ, dance, urban and Latin. Fridays will feature popular music from every genre.
“We are fans first, and we know live streaming has something valuable to offer music lovers,” said Bandsintown managing partner Fabrice Sergent in a release. “There’s a striking intimacy to this format we think is here to stay. In a different way from live events, artists deeply connect with their fans. We are convinced that this will turn into new sources of income for such artists, helping them launch new music, sell merch or ticketed events.”
In addition to five days of genre-based programming, weekends on Bandsintown LIVE will have takeovers from various festivals, charities, venues and cities.
The Bandsintown live streams are also being touted as an additional revenue source for artists. The platform has made tip jars a prominent feature of the broadcasts on Twitch with 100% of the money received going to the artist or the artist’s charity of choice.
“By delivering a substantial new audience and adding a tip jar, Bandsintown LIVE gives artists a way to earn money while also expanding their fanbase and fans a way to support their favorite artists,” Sergent added.
The new schedule kicked off Monday (May 11). A full lineup of artists can be found here.
