Bandsintown claims fan interest in livestreams will endure

Among the many unknowns around this Covid-19 pandemic’s impact on the music industry: will the current boom in livestreams ebb away quickly once live concerts return? According to a survey of nearly 7,000 Bandsintown users this month, perhaps not. According to Billboard, 74% of them said they will continue to watch livestreams regularly once live shows are back.

Meanwhile, more than 40% said they’d never watched a livestream event before, and more than 70% said they would be willing to pay for artist livestreams. The usual caveat being that this is people saying what they would/will do – whether it’s true will only become clear once concerts are running again (in the case of whether they’ll continue to watch) and when they actually get their virtual wallets out (in the case of whether they’ll pay).
