Bandsintown Launches Regular Thursday Live Sessions

As part of their continued efforts to support live music and artists during the COVID-19 crisis, Bandsintown is hosting a regular series of live sessions each Thursday on the Bandsintown LIVE channel on Twitch.

The first in the series begins tomorrow, Thursday April 2, with a special set featuring Mixmash Records head and international DJ sensation Laidback Luke. He will be doing a set at 12pm ET/ 9am PT/ 6pm in the Netherlands. The rest of the session involves contest winners from a Mixmash competition looking for aspiring DJs’ sets. The 4 winners will do 15 minute sets in the hour before Laidback Luke’s performance.

Each Thursday session will feature a few artists grouped together for genre, label, or style affiliation, with the hopes that these shows will approximate the feel of going to a live show and seeing a few bands or DJs who are intentionally grouped together. All proceeds from this series of performances will go to the MusiCares COVID-19 relief fund.

With WATCH LIVE, 530,000 registered artists on Bandsintown can now promote their live-streamed shows on their favorite live streaming platforms at no cost to the 55 million Bandsintown registered fans. Artists will be able to promote on their own Facebook pages, Instagram stories, or other sites surfacing Bandsintown’s events listings such as Amazon’s Alexa or Billboard.com.

Bandsintown’s direct to fans free messaging platform is also being used by many artists to stay in touch with their most engaged fans, the concertgoers.

“Artists and fans are already missing the tribal experience that live shows create. We all must do whatever we can to keep that feeling alive as well as help artists in these difficult times,” said Fabrice Sergent, Managing Partner of Bandsintown. “WATCH LIVE and a new Bandsintown Live music channel on Twitch are the first of many new initiatives from Bandsintown.”
