Concert discovery platform Bandsintown will host a two-day live music marathon Thursday and Friday to benefit the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. The marathon will be broadcast on the Bandsintown Twitch channel and include both established and up-and-coming acts like Taking Back Sunday, Tank and the Bangas, Amanda Palmer, 99 Neighbors, Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy and Yuksek.
It will run for eight hours each day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. PDT, with 100 percent of all money raised going directly to the fund, which will be used to assist music professionals impacted by the novel coronavirus.
Other acts include Sofi Tukker, Tayla Parks, Iyla, mxmtoon and The Mowglis. See the most current lineup below.
“We are experiencing a new form of connectivity between music acts and their fans,” Bandsintown Managing Partner Fabrice Sergent said in a news release. “Artists have suddenly become more approachable. A new form of entertainment is emerging from this chaos.”
In the coming days, Bandsintown will announce a regular schedule of live music programming and events to follow the marathon on the Bandsintown LIVE channel.
Bandsintown also launched the opportunity for the 530,000 musicians registered with Bandsintown For Artists to receive free fast track status to Twitch’s monetization tools for live streaming. It also launched a WATCH LIVE feature to help artists alert the 55 million registered fans on Bandsintown when their streamed events go live. Artists can post messages to their followers on Bandsintown and schedule live-streamed events.
